A historic downtown theatre brought back to life by student vision, public support, volunteers, and a community that believed the movies still belonged here.

Lex Majestic Theatre, Inc. operates a volunteer-powered movie theatre in downtown Lexington, Nebraska.
The Majestic shows second-run films with digital projection and 7.1 Dolby sound on an 11 by 20 foot screen. Guests enjoy affordable admission, rocker seating, concessions, wheelchair seating, and hearing loop access.
The theatre’s community role goes beyond entertainment. It gives students, families, service organizations, businesses, and individual volunteers a place to work together and keep a local landmark active.
History
More than a century on the big screen.

After generations of operation by the Falkinburg family, the theatre closes and its future becomes uncertain.
Students imagine a comeback.
Lexington students identify reopening the Majestic as a project that could make a lasting community impact. Lexington Public Schools acquires the building and the restoration effort begins.
The Majestic reopens.
The theatre returns for its 100th anniversary after student involvement, grants, private donations, and community work transform the interior.
A nonprofit begins the next chapter.
Lex Majestic Theatre, Inc. purchases the theatre from Lexington Public Schools and continues the mission as a nonprofit community institution.
Volunteers keep it moving.
Students, community members, organizations, sponsors, advertisers, donors, and moviegoers all play a part in keeping the Majestic open.
